Planet 51 The Game Review – Xbox 360

January 11th, 2010

So what is Planet 51 about? You take control of Lem; a geeky teenage Alien boy interested in Astronomy. To begin with you’re faced with a number of menial duties such as mowing your neighbours back lawn and taking your mother’s car to the garage. To make things worse the local bully is picking on Lem a bit and of course the girl he fancies from school isn’t really interested in such a no hoper. All of that is about to change when Chuck, a human, lands on Lem’s home planet (Planet 51) and causes and almighty ruckus.

Diner Dash Review – Xbox 360

January 7th, 2010

All of us have played a time waster game at some point in our lives. Maybe it was Tetris on the Gameboy or perhaps more recently Peggle on your iPhone. One thing for certain is that even the most core of gamers love a bit of light-hearted high score based gaming in between bouts of Modern Warfare 2 or any other hit game you’d like to mention. Diner Dash has been a huge success since its release in 2003 as a simple PC flash game and can now be found on more than 12 different platforms.

Episode 5 of Tales of Monkey Island is here and I can tell you now Guybrush isn’t in for an easy ride this time around. Formula One 2009 Review – Wii

December 18th, 2009

f1 2009 wii reviewMotor Racing seems to be one of those sports that people either love or hate. Oddly enough I’m just about to contradict that by saying that I fall somewhere in-between. I used to really enjoy Formula One but I have found that my enjoyment has dwindled somewhat over the last few seasons. All that said, I do love a good racing simulation and in the past I’ve spent many an hour pretending to race a car on my TV or PC monitor, in fact I still play Live For Speed every weekend and to this day have fond memories of F1 World Grand Prix on the Nintendo 64.

Shootanto Evolutionary Mayhem Review – Wii

December 5th, 2009

shootanto wiiware screenshotWhen Hudson told me that they were bringing a new first person shooter to WiiWare I almost started to jump up and down. No I’m not being sarcastic or sardonic this time. If you’re a regular here you may remember my review of Hudson’s previous FPS on Wii; Onslaught which scored an impressive 4 out of 5. So it’s time to find out more about the game in this Shootanto for WiiWare review. Shootanto for Wii is another intriguing title in Hudson’s blossoming WiiWare catalogue.

My Zoo Review – Wii

November 30th, 2009

I’m not embarrassed to say that I’m an animal lover. I share my house with a rabbit and four cats. I would go as far as to say that I’d prefer the company of almost every animal on the planet rather than that of a human. All except moths, I can’t say I like moths that much at all. Sure you could call me a hippy but no animal is going to rob me in a dark alley or blow up a plane I’m riding in.

Manic Monkey Mayhem – Wii

November 30th, 2009

Manic Monkey MayhemAs you have probably gathered from the name, this game features Monkey’s and a whole host of Manic Mayhem. Now unlike other Monkey based games full of mayhem, this one doesn’t just seemingly trap Monkey’s inside giant hamster balls for fun (Super Monkey Ball) and neither does it force you to battle a giant reptile King with the help of a Rhino (Donkey Kong Country). Taking inspiration from Nintendo’s motion controller, Worms and possibly even Steven Spielberg’s Boom Blox, the developers of Manic Monkey Mayhem have tried to create a fun game based around throwing bananas and coconuts.

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games Review – Nintendo DS

November 21st, 2009

Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics DS ScreenshotAs you’d expect from the title you take control of Mario and Sonic; however it’s not all about Speed Skating and gold medals here. If you’d have thought something as giant and complex as the Winter Olympic Games could go without a hitch then you’re a dummy because if you think about it just for a moment then you’d realise that there is just so much that can go wrong. In this instance though what goes wrong isn’t quite what you or I would have expected. Rather than the typical type of things like Olympic Athletes being struck down by food poisoning or being suspected of drug misuse, in Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games things are much worse. Who else but the evil Dr Eggman and Bowser have decided to cause trouble.
